God’s Strength Made Perfect in Weakness

My Grace Is Sufficient: Strength When You Feel Weak

Hey, friend.

Have you ever come to the end of yourself—so tired, so stretched, so worn down—that you wondered how you could possibly keep going? I’ve been there too.

The apostle Paul knew that feeling well. In fact, he shared what the Lord spoke to him in his own weakness:

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

| 2 Corinthians 12:9

What a promise. God doesn’t ask us to pretend to be strong. He meets us right in the middle of our weakness and fills the empty places with His strength.

A Week of Exhaustion

Not long ago, my five-year-old son had his tonsils and adenoids removed. If you’ve walked that road as a parent, you know the recovery is long—seven to ten days—and for the first six, the pain only increases.

By day six, it felt like we had a newborn in the house again. Multiple nighttime wakings, tears of pain, and nothing I could do but be with him, rub his back, and sing.

Our song of choice? Jesus Loves Me—the same one I’ve sung to him since he was a baby. I was up until one in the morning giving him medicine, then up again at seven for work, after being woken multiple times in those short hours. I was bone tired.

But every time he cried out, the Lord gave me the strength to get up again, the patience to be present, and the voice to sing the song that soothed him when nothing else worked.

By the time he slept through the night again—eight nights after surgery—I was beyond grateful. But I was also deeply aware that the Lord had carried me through. His grace had truly been sufficient.

God’s Strength in Our Weakness

That’s the heart of Paul’s words in 2 Corinthians. God doesn’t promise an easy road, but He does promise Himself. When our strength runs out, His never does.

He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

| Isaiah 40:29

Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.

| Romans 15:13

When we feel faint, He gives power. When we’re weak, He increases strength. When we’re empty, He fills us with hope.

An Invitation for You

Friend, if you’re in a weary season right now, take comfort in knowing you don’t have to be strong enough. God’s strength is more than enough for you today. His grace doesn’t run out.

And sometimes, we need to be reminded of that truth again and again. That’s why I created the Bible Verse Cards for Encouragement—small, tangible reminders of God’s promises for weary hearts. Keep them on your desk, tuck them in your Bible, or place them where you’ll see them often.

Closing Encouragement

You may not feel strong today. That’s okay. Because God is strong in you, and His grace is sufficient. Just as He met me in the middle of my sleepless nights, He will meet you in your weary days too.

Much love in Christ,
Kelly
