Finding Peace through Scripture: When You Love His Law
Hey, friend.
Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.
| Psalm 119:165
Peace is something the world is always chasing, even though Scripture tells us exactly where to find it. Psalm 119:165 promises great peace to those who love God’s law, the Bible. That word love stands out, doesn’t it? It’s more than a casual appreciation for Scripture. It’s a deep affection and delight in the Word of God; an affection that keeps His truth close in our minds, evident in our decisions, and even noticeable in our workspaces and homes, wherever we spend our days.
A Love Letter to the Word of God
Psalm 119 reads like a love letter to the Bible itself. Verse after verse overflows with the psalmist’s gratitude for God’s Word:
O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day. | Psalm 119:97
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. | Psalm 119:105
Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart. | Psalm 119:111
This psalmist didn’t just read Scripture; he lived in it. He devoured it. He meditated on it. He wrote it. He delighted in it, depended on it, and found joy in letting it shape his heart. This is what it means to love God’s law: to treasure it so much that it becomes the lens through which we see everything else in our lives and the guide by which we make our daily decisions.

When the Mind Fails, the Word Remains
We all have days when peace feels out of reach. Maybe your thoughts are spinning, or your to-do list feels bigger than the time you have to finish it.
I’ve had days like that, sitting at my desk with work piled high and my heart racing a little faster than it should. But right beside my computer sit several Bible verse cards on a wooden stand, each one a gentle reminder of the One who holds my day. When I glance over at those verses, I’m reminded that God has already ordered my steps and that He will help me accomplish what He intends for me to do. And I’m given the opportunity to focus on something other than my overwhelm, some Truth that I know is the only thing that can help my mind truly find some calm to get back to the task at hand.
Those little cards are more than pretty paper; they’re Truth within arm’s reach. They steady my heart when my thoughts are scattered and remind me that lasting peace doesn’t come from checking every box on my to-do list; it comes from trusting the One who never fails to hold us up, the One who has promised to be with us through each moment of our lives.

Surrounding Yourself with Scripture
Loving God’s law isn’t only about studying the Bible; it’s also about keeping it close. Deuteronomy 6:6–9 tells us to keep God’s words in our hearts, to teach them to our children, to talk of them throughout the day, and to place them where we’ll see them often.
It matters to surround yourself with Scripture in tangible ways. Keep verses on your mirror or refrigerator. Tuck them into your planner. Set them beside your bed or on a stand at your workspace. The more we fill our surroundings with God’s Word, the more opportunities we will have to fill our minds with peace throughout the day.
If you’re longing for reminders like that, the Bible Verse Cards for Peace were created for just this purpose. Each verse in the set, including Psalm 119:165, was chosen to help anchor your thoughts in the truth of God’s profound love for you when life feels hurried or heavy. They’re a simple, beautiful way to keep Scripture right where you need it most.
Peace That Endures
Our verse ends with this phrase: and nothing shall offend them. When we allow our days to be ordered by our love for God’s Word, we’re not as easily shaken by the circumstances we find ourselves in or offended by the people around us. The Holy Spirit enables us to guard our reactions and steady our emotions. God gives us His peace, which is beyond all human understanding.
Peace isn’t the absence of problems; it’s the reality of the presence of God’s promises in our lives. When we love His law — when we live in it, dwell on it, and keep it close — our hearts find rest no matter what our day brings.
Much love in Christ,
Kelly
