Bible Cross References
Proverbs 13:20

Proverbs 29:22
An angry man stirreth up strife, and a furious man aboundeth in transgression.
2 Corinthians 6:14-17
Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,
Reflections
About God
God cares who we spend our time with, because He knows that we become like those with whom we associate. Also, God is the exact opposite of “a furious man” – He is just, yes, and occasionally we see in the Bible Israelites and others experiencing His wrath. But He is never consumed with burning anger in a poisonous, unrighteous sort of way, and any man seeking to become more like Christ is the one we should choose to associate with (over the angry man mentioned here).
About Self
When I am angry or spend time with angry, poisonous people, I fall into a trap from which it is difficult to find my way out. The Lord asks me to seek after him, instead of after others who embody characteristics and behaviors that are against the very essence of God.
Questions to Ask Myself
- Who am I spending my time with? Am I allowing poor influences to pull my heart away from God?
