Bible Cross References

Colossians 2:6-7

As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Proverbs 10:25

As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

Psalm 1

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Reflections

About God

Jesus is to be the root of the righteous – therefore it cannot be moved because Jesus is the same always - as Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.”

About Self

My life’s foundation (root!) should always be Jesus – anything else will result in spiritual “tremors” and shaking. Nothing else this world has to offer can keep me rooted like Christ.

Questions to Ask Myself

  • What am I relying on to be my foundation in my life?
  • Where is there wickedness that I need to purge from my life so that my roots are always in Christ?
